Several FL Cities Named The Best Cities To Drive In. FL's Worst Is Said To Have The "Worst" Drivers

Floridians who think that some of Florida's roads - including I-4, US 19, and I-95 - are among the worst that the nation has to offer might be surprised to learn that a recent survey actually found several Florida cities among the "best" cities to drive in. And Florida's "worst" isn't Orlando, Tampa, or Miami. It's Hialeah. Let's have a look:

The Study And What It Measured: The website WalletHub recently published what it felt were the best and worst cities to drive in the United States in 2024.

To do so, it looked at metrics like the cost of car ownership and maintenance, traffic and infrastructure, safety, access to vehicles, and maintenance.

Note that the site looks at the 100 most populated cities in the United States, so medium-sized and small towns were not considered in this study.

The "Best" Florida Cities To Drive In: No Florida cities made the top three. Those honors went to Raleigh, Bose, and Corpus Christi. However, Florida's "best" city in terms of driving was Jacksonville, coming in at number five. Those on I-95 and I-275 might disagree, but WalletHub ranked Jacksonville highly for the cost of car ownership and maintenance.

Florida's second "best" city to drive in was Orlando at number 6th, which came in second in the study for traffic. (I'm sure some readers are thinking about I-4.)

Florida's third "best" driving city, at number 9, was Tampa, which ranked highly for access to vehicles and maintenance.

Florida's "Worst" Driving City: It would be incomplete to cover this list without also mentioning the Florida city that came in last. That was Hialeah at number 43.

Interestingly enough, Hialeah was also identified as having Florida's worst drivers in a survey by Allstate in 2019.
