    Honoring Excellence: Eight Leaders Inducted into South Bend Alumni Association Hall of Fame

    SOUTH BEND, Ind. — In a night dedicated to recognizing the tireless efforts of community leaders, the South Bend Alumni Association welcomed its 37th annual class of Hall of Fame inductees. These eight individuals have left a lasting mark on South Bend, shaping the city through their contributions to education, athletics, business, and community service.

    The ceremony, held on Tuesday evening, was emceed by WSBT 22's Bob Montgomery, and celebrated both past and present figures who have worked diligently to uplift the community. The event served as a powerful reminder of the impact one can have when they dedicate their efforts to the betterment of others.

    This year’s inductees into the Hall of Fame include:

    • Hon. Andre Gammage – Renowned for his commitment to justice and community improvement.
    • Gary Gilot – A leader in public works and infrastructure development.
    • Charlie Hayes – A revered figure in local athletics.
    • Greg Humnicky – Known for his contributions to business and community partnerships.
    • Vickie McIntire – A dedicated advocate for education.
    • Freddie Thon – A driving force in community service initiatives.
    • Judith Overmeyer – An influential leader in local education.
    • Seabe Gavin Sr. (In Memoriam) – Honored for his lifetime of dedication to South Bend.

    Beyond these Hall of Fame honors, four special recognition awards were presented to individuals and organizations that have gone above and beyond in service:

    • Ideal Baldoni Distinguished Public Service Award: Shalon “Shay” Davis, recognized for her tireless dedication to public service.
    • Contribution to Education Corporate Award: AEP Foundation/Indiana Michigan Power, for their support in enhancing educational initiatives.
    • Distinguished Community Service Award: 466 Works, a community organization making strides in local service projects.
    • Distinguished Achievement Award: Cynthia Murphy, for her outstanding achievements in both professional and community spheres.

    This annual event not only highlights individual accomplishments but also underscores the importance of collective effort in making South Bend a vibrant and thriving community. As each inductee’s story unfolded, it became clear that the legacy of these leaders will inspire future generations to continue working toward a better tomorrow.
