Thursday evening, the Le Sueur-Henderson girls tennis team traveled to Holy Family Catholic H.S. to take on the Fire in the first round of the Section 5A team tournament. A pair of hard fought victories would be the all that was in the cards for the Giants though, as they ultimately fell 5-2.

With the loss, the team portion of the 2024 season has concluded and athletes will be selected to participate in the individual tournament which is scheduled to begin Thursday, Oct. 10, and will be held on the campus of Gustavus Adolphus College beginning at 9 a.m.

Earning the victories for the Giants were the doubles No. 2-3 teams of Teagan Graham with Kiandra Straub as well as Alice Breaker with Roslee Bravo. For Graham and Straub, they overcame a 6-2 first set loss to take the second 6-3, forcing a third which they won 10-7. Breaker and Bravo meanwhile won their match 2-0 but needed to go into extra points, winning each set 7-5 to earn their victory.
