Despite Dennis Rodman's well-known reputation for eccentric behavior and controversial antics, NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar still admired his remarkable skills as a player. For "Cap," Rodman's tenacious defensive play, relentless rebounding, and ability to impact the game in ways that went beyond scoring made him a valuable asset to the teams he played for.

Abdul-Jabbar, who was respected for his disciplined style of play, acknowledged that "The Worm" wasn't the best example off the court. However, Kareem remembers Rodman for his role in his teams' success, especially in the Finals.

"All the flamboyant stuff is another story," Abdul-Jabbar once said about Dennis. "He was an integral player on a number of championship teams."

    What MJ thought of Rodman

In basketball, the five-time champion is renowned for his relentless defensive and rebounding prowess. Like Kareem, Michael Jordan also recognizes Dennis' distinct attributes and aptitude for helping his team win games.

According to Jordan, even Scottie Pippen agreed that Rodman's commitment to playing high-level defense, tireless effort, and uncanny ability to position himself to grab the boards made him not only a vital cog in the dominance of the Chicago Bulls in the '90s. Moreover, MJ was blown away by the fact that "The Worm" earned his All-Star appearances with notably minimal scoring.

"Very few players are making All-Star teams off of defense and rebounds. Scottie and I talk about it all the time; we sit down, we watch him and it's like, 'it's good to have him on our team instead of facing him.' He is by far the best rebounder I've ever seen. He doesn't have the oversized physique to help him in that; it's just his heart and desire and the ability to go get the ball," the six-time NBA champion once said of Rodman.

    Rodman was a true legend

In NBA lore, the 6'7" forward has become synonymous with controversy and extraordinary athletic abilities. Despite facing numerous challenges early in his life, including a difficult childhood and a tumultuous start to his basketball career, Rodman's undeniable talent and unwavering determination propelled him to become one of the most dominant defensive players and rebounders in NBA history.

In his 14-year NBA career, Dennis led the league in rebounding seven consecutive times. It's an incredible feat that only the late great Wilt Chamberlain exceeded, having led the category 11 times.

All told, Abdul-Jabbar and Jordan were both right about Rodman. Though many labeled him as a "bad boy," that doesn't change the fact that Dennis is also a true enigma in the world of professional basketball and a legend of the game.

Rodman might have been nuts, but the dude was definitely a top baller with a motor that never quit. The guy had no fear of anyone he was up against. I loved watching him play.
