    October Events at The Strand Theatre

    The Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre, 117 North Park Square in Marietta, will have the following events in October.

    Young Frankenstein (1974), rated PG, will be 7 p.m. on Oct. 10. This Mel Brooks spoof-tribute to classic horror films features a performance by Gene Wilder. The organ pre-show on the Mighty Allen Theatre Organ will begin a half-hour before showtime.Poltergeist (1982), rated PG, will be 7 p.m. on Oct. 11. Poltergeist is about a family's home is haunted by a host of demonic ghosts. A free organ pre-show will start a half hour before showtime.I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997), rated R, will be 7 p.m. on Oct. 17. Four young friends bound by a tragic accident are reunited when they find themselves being stalked by a hook-wielding maniac in their small seaside town.Mary Mack - Hulu's Solar Opposites, Last Comic Standing will be 8 p.m. on Oct. 18. Comedian Mary Mack is a favorite on radio shows and podcasts around the country. Together in partnership with the American Theatre Organ Society, The Strand will screen the silent film classic with live accompaniment on The Strand’s Mighty Allen Theatre Organ.Friday The 13th (1980), rated R, will be 7 p.m. on Oct. 24. When a group of teenage camp counselors attempts to re-open an abandoned summer camp with a tragic past, they are stalked by a mysterious relentless killer. A free organ pre-show will start a half hour before showtime.The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975), rated R, will be 8 and 11:59 p.m. on Oct. 25. Not just a movie, The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a cult tradition that has been passed down through generations. As always, patrons are invited to enjoy the movie in costume. A live organ pre-show on the Mighty Allen Theatre Organ will begin thirty minutes before showtime. Prop bags with everything one needs to play along are available for pre-purchase when buying movie tickets while supplies last. Prop bags include party hats, rubber gloves, noisemakers, toilet paper, playing cards and newspapers. Admission is $15 and prop bags are $7.Hocus Pocus (1993), rated PG, will be 8 p.m. on Oct. 26. Three hundred years have passed since the Sanderson sisters were executed for practicing dark witchcraft. Returning to life thanks to a combination of a spell spoken before their demise and the accidental actions of Max, the new-kid-in-town, the sisters have but one night to secure their continuing existence. A free organ pre-show will start a half hour before showtime.Nightmare On Elm Street (1984), rated R, will be 7 p.m. on Oct. 31. Written and directed by Wes Craven, the film is about teenager Nancy Thompson who must uncover the dark truth concealed by her parents after she and her friends become targets of the spirit of a serial killer with a bladed glove in their dreams. A free organ pre-show will start a half hour before showtime.
