    Tyndall finishes as conference runner-up

    ROARING GAP — South Stokes’ golfer Hailey Tyndall closed out her senior year by finishing second behind Northwest 1A Conference Player of the Year Madison Akers of Mount Airy. Akers finished the 18-hole course at Roaring Gap Country Club with an 81 with Tyndall and East Wilkes Lauren Macemore tying for second with an 88. East Wilkes’ Halle Byrd finished fourth with a score of 99 and was the only other player in the field to finish below 100.

    East Wilkes won the conference tournament with a score of 290. The Granite Bears were second with a 292 followed by the Sauras 310, Elkin 313, and Alleghany 347.

    Akers led the players on both the front and back nine with scores of 39 and 42. Tyndall shot a 43 on the front nine and a 45 on the back.

    The Sauras’ Makayla Boles finished 10th and earned Northwest 1A All-Conference with a score of 110. The top 10 placers in the field made the All-Conference list.

    South Stokes’ Eve Hall was 12th with a 112 and Victoria Aguilar recorded a 116. Mayln Washburn and Ivey Scott split time with Washburn shooting a 58 on the front nine, and Scott scoring a 59 on the back.

    Making All-Conference team was Akers, Tyndall, Macemore, Byrd, Anna Peterson (MA), Saylor Billings (E), Hannah Mathis (EW), Makaela McGee (E), Waddell (E), and Boles.
