Miami-Dade, FL - In preparation for Hurricane Milton, Tri-Rail has suspended all service to Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties for Wednesday and Thursday.

Due to projected winds exceeding 39 mph, the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority (SFRTA) will be securing crossing gates to ensure safety.

Tri-Rail made the announcement on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, writing "⚠️ Due to the severe weather conditions anticipated in South Florida from Hurricane Milton, the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority (SFRTA) will suspend Tri-Rail operations for Wednesday, October 9 and Thursday, October 10."

SFRTA Executive Director David Dech in a statement "We have been closely monitoring the storm throughout the week, and the recent NOAA forecast update for Palm Beach County prompted us to begin the process of securing the railroad after Tri-Rail's final train tonight. We urge our passengers to prioritize their safety and prepare their homes for the storm.”

Amtrak and CSX freight services along the corridor will also be suspended during this time.

SFRTA intends to start the restoration process on Thursday evening, with the goal of resuming regular service on Friday, provided that conditions are safe.
