The New York Jets made the surprising decision to fire head coach Robert Saleh on Tuesday.

The move came just two days after the Jets' loss to the Minnesota Vikings in London, ending Saleh's fourth season as head coach.

While many believed that Aaron Rodgers had a say in Saleh's firing, other reports stated that it was entirely the decision of Jets owner Woody Johnson . Pat McAfee also talked about how Rodgers has continuously expressed his support of Saleh as the head coach.

Nonetheless, Saleh is out as the Jets coach as they have a 2-3 record entering Week 6 with a showdown on Monday night against the Buffalo Bills.

On Wednesday, Saleh released a statement on the decision, per Kevin Patra of NFL.com.

"To the Jets Organization, I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work with so many incredible people," Saleh said. "I will always be appreciative of the love and support from everyone at 1 Jets Drive."

"To all of the players, I truly love and appreciate every single one of you," Saleh continued. "The character of the men in the locker room made coaching you guys the ultimate privilege. Through all the ups and downs, each and every one of you showed up every day and attacked every moment."

Saleh also went on to thank the coaching staff and the Jets fan base.

"To my fellow coaches and staff, it has been an honor to work with all of you," Saleh stated. "Every one of you were 'all in' and made sacrifices for one another that will never be forgotten. I wish you all the very best of luck for the remainder of the season. To the most passionate fan base in the NFL, thank you for embracing my family. It has been a pleasure calling New York our home and we will forever appreciate all of the memories that were created here."

The conclusion of Saleh's lengthy statement read, "With Love and Regard, "All Gas No Brake!!!"

Saleh's run with the Jets ends with a 20-36 record in three-plus seasons, and it will be worth monitoring to see who the organization hires this time around.

The Jets have named defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich as the interim head coach, and his time begins with a tough showdown on Monday Night Football against Josh Allen and the Bills.
