SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- In case you were wondering, Christmas is 77 away at the time of this writing.

The city of South Charleston is getting a head start on the yuletide season.

On Tuesday, city officials announced they are partnering with the South Charleston Convention and Visitor's Bureau (SCCVB) to highlight local small businesses in preparation for Small Business Saturday.

“We need your help to make this project a success,” municipal representatives said in a statement. “If you would like to be featured on our social media, please send us your business name, photos and a description of what your business offers. If you are offering any discounts or specials, be sure to include those as well.”

The offer is open to small businesses within city limits. Any local entrepreneur interested in participating in the social media promotional are asked to email the information to szuniga@cityofsouthcharleston.com. Those with questions are asked to call 304-440-2160.

This year, Small Business Saturday falls on Saturday, Nov. 30.

South Charleston officials are also seeking individuals, businesses and other groups interested in participating in the city's annual Christmas parade. You do not have to be a South Charleston resident to participate.

This year’s parade will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7. It will kick off at noon on D Street.

Anyone interested in participating in the 2024 South Charleston Christmas Parade is asked to complete the online registration form on the SCCVB's website.
