‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ Comes To Digital, But When Will ‘Beetlejuice 2’ Be Streaming on Max?

Before you could even say his name three times, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is now available to buy and rent on digital platforms. This comes just a little over a month after Beetlejuice 2 opened in theaters. Man, even beloved ’80s nostalgia cash grabs are getting pushed to video-on-demand.

Directed by Tim Burton, Beetlejuice 2 saw the return of Micheal Keaton to his iconic role as a demonic trickster, alongside original cast members Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara from the beloved 1988 horror comedy. Jenna Ortega joined the cast as the teen daughter of Ryder’s character, Lydia Deetz, who gets herself into a sticky situation in the Afterlife. Lydia has no choice but to call in a favor from her mischievous and magical pal, Betelgeuse.

Critics weren’t overly impressed by the Beetlejuice sequel, but the film still made an impressive $403 million at the worldwide box office, compared to an estimated $100 million production budget. And yet, Warner Bros. is pushing the film to VOD after 4.5 weeks in theaters.

Unfortunately, this is not surprising. Even box office hits are getting released on “premium” video-on-demand—which is the industry term for charging movie theater prices for an earlier release on digital platforms—after a month in theaters or less. The new Beetlejuice will soon be available to watch at home, but you’ll have to pay a pretty penny to watch it—more, even, than you might pay to watch the movie in theaters. Why pay so much, when Beetlejuice Beetlejuice will be streaming free on Max soon enough?

Here’s what you should know about how to watch Beetlejuice Beetlejuice online, and when to expect to see Beetlejuice 2 streaming on Max.

Is ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ Streaming on Netflix or HBO Max?

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice was released on digital platforms on October 8. You are now able to buy and rent Beetlejuice Beetlejuice digitally on Amazon Prime , Apple TV , Vudu , and more. The price may vary depending on which platform you use to purchase the film, but on Amazon Prime the movie costs $24.99 to buy, and $19.99 to rent.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice will also be released on 4k UHD, DVD, and Blu-Ray on November 19. The digital release, the DVD, the Blu-Ray, and the 4k will come with the following special features: “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Commentary by director Tim Burton,” “The Juice is Loose! The Making of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” “The Ghost with the Most: Beetlejuice Returns,” “Meet the Deetz,” “Handbook for the Recently Deceased,” “Shrinkers, Shrinkers Everywhere!,” “An Animated Afterlife: The Stop-Motion Art of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” and “‘Til Death Do Us Park.”

Beetlejuice 2 is now available to rent on digital platforms like Amazon Prime , Apple TV , Vudu , and more. The movie will cost $19.99 to rent, and you’ll have 48 hours to watch the movie after hitting “play.”

The Beetlejuice 2 streaming release date on Max has not yet been announced, but we know that Beetlejuice 2 will stream on Max eventually because it is a Warner Bros. movie, and Max is the streaming service owned by Warner Bros. All the new WB theatrical movies end up streaming on Max, though the wait period has varied by title.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga , for example, was also released on PVOD about one month after opening in theaters, and began streaming on Max on August 16, about three months after it was released in theaters. If Beetlejuice Beetlejuice follows a similar release pattern, you may see Beetlejuice 2 streaming on Max in about two months—around December 2024.

That said, this is all speculation. There is not yet an official Beetlejuice 2 Max release date. If you want to watch the Beetlejuice Beetlejuice movie right away, you can buy or rent the movie online.
