Back in January, the Oklahoma State Athletic Commission held a meeting in which they voted to warn AEW after transgender wrestler Nyla Rose wrestled on an ROH show held in the state the month prior. This is because the Commission has a rule that states intergender wrestling isn’t allowed, and with Rose competing in the women’s division, she is technically banned.

Subsequently, Tony Khan would go on record to say that “AEW stands by Nyla Rose and all transgender people in wrestling,” and it was therefore hoped that following pressure from AEW that under review, the rule would change. However, Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics.com has now reported on X that the Commission met on Tuesday and declined to change the rule, meaning Rose remains banned from wrestling in the state. Still, it is understood the issue will be discussed during a future legislative hearing.

“The Oklahoma State Athletic Commission at a meeting yesterday declined to change its rule that prohibits intergender matches as well as prevents transgender wrestlers from having matches against wrestlers of the same gender.”

At present, neither AEW nor ROH has any shows announced for Oklahoma, and it will now be fascinating to see if Khan’s promotions skip running in the state from now on. However, with WWE holding SmackDow at the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City as recently as last month, it doesn’t appear to be something they are concerned about.
