NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A good Samaritan fell onto the subway tracks at an East Harlem station Wednesday morning while trying to stop an argument between a couple, authorities said.

It happened at about 1:30 a.m. on the platform of the 125th Street station on the 4,5,6 line, officials said.

According to officials, the 52-year-old attempted to intervene in the couple's dispute when 35-year old Louis Jackson punched him in the face causing him to fall onto the tracks.

He was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan and is listed in stable condition.

Jackson was charged with assault and reckless endangerment, police said.
