The Boston Red Sox team, fan base and community lost a pillar of their organization earlier this week with the passing of former Red Sox pitcher Luis Tiant.

Tiant pitched in the MLB for 19 seasons, earning three All-Star nominations and leading the American League in ERA twice in his career.

El Tiante spent eight seasons with the Red Sox as a player and was around even longer as a coach and instructor. Living in New England, he could often be seen at Fenway Park, connecting himself with the fan base even more.

After news of his passing, a number of former Red Sox took to social media and spoke on television about Tiant, the player and person.
