Trailer released for highly anticipated Red Sox docuseries

In April, Dan Le Batard revealed that Meadowlark Media had plans to release “10-20” documentaries in the next two years.

The next one is on the horizon, with Netflix set to debut The Comeback on Oct. 23.

The three-part docuseries will focus on the 2004 Boston Red Sox, who overcame a 3-0 deficit against the New York Yankees in the American League Championship Series en route to winning the franchise’s first World Series title since 1918. A trailer for the project was unveiled on Wednesday’s episode of The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz , giving viewers a first look at what they can expect from the highly anticipated series.

As seen in the trailer, The Comeback will feature no shortage of familiar faces for Red Sox fans, including (but not limited to) Kevin Millar, Theo Epstein, Jason Varitek, David Ortiz, Curt Schilling, Pedro Martinez, Terry Francona and Johnny Damon. It also includes former Yankees manager Joe Torre and legendary New York radio host Mike Francesca — something that Le Batard made clear was done by design.

“People might look at that and say, ‘Well you’re celebrating Boston sports,'” Le Batard said. “No, I’m celebrating the way the Yankees lost.”

As for Meadowlark, The Comeback marks the second full-length offering from the company’s documentary division, following 2022’s Good Rivals , which focused on the rivalry between the United States and Mexico men’s soccer teams. The company has also released multiple shorts as a part of its “Sports Explain the World” documentary and podcast series.

Other previously announced Meadowlark Media documentary projects include a documentary about WNBA living legend Dianna Taurasi .
