It’s a crazy fish-out-of-water game - an SEC team going to UMass in the middle of the season?

For those who complain about SEC teams playing cupcake games late before the big rivalry - let it go; playing an easy game at the end of a season instead of after the beginning is no big deal - Missouri plays six straight SEC games after this to close. However, outside of the trip to Alabama, it’s not that bad a run.

UMass has yet to beat an FBS team this season, and it’s the first game this season against a Power Four team.

Why Missouri Will Win

Beyond the issues on the lines against the SEC fronts - there’s no UMass pass rush and nothing happening in pass protection - there are too many mistakes.

To make this close the Minutemen have to be perfect, and they get hit was way too many penalties. There were just four in the loss to Northern Illinois last week, but they’ve been hit with eight or more four times.

And then there’s the problem of control. UMass is deliberate and owns the clock for over 34 minutes per game. Missouri is the best team in the SEC in time of possession - keeping it for 33:27 a game.
