Following standout individual performances at the Hoosier Classic, Purdue women’s tennis now travels to Tennessee for the ITA Regional Championships.

Purdue went down to the rival land of Bloomington to face the likes of Indiana, Eastern Michigan, Northern Illinois, Memphis, Ball State and North Texas last weekend.

It was a tale of two days, as the Boilers went 2-2 in singles, thanks to wins from junior Calissa Dellabarca and freshman Ellie Morrow, and 2-0 in doubles on day one. On the second day of the tournament though, the Boilers went 2-2 in singles play thanks to two Wilson sister wins, but 0-2 as doubles.

The Wilson sisters, Ashlie, a junior, and Kathryn, a freshman, bounced back from singles losses on day one to win gritty three-setters on day two against EMU. Both sisters won their first sets, dropped tight second sets, but won the third decisively.

Notably, Ellie Morrow, a freshman, stepped up in a monumental win on the first day of the tournament, winning the only matchup against IU of the weekend in a lengthy three-setter.

The Boilers travel to Middle Tennessee now to take on a stacked lineup at the ITA Regional Championships in Murfreesboro, TN.

Purdue tennis hopes to continue last year’s success that saw both a 3-1 singles record and a quarterfinals doubles run from 2024’s seniors.

Regionals’ qualifying draw of 64 players is played first and features three more Boilermakers: freshman Ida Clement, senior Juana Larranaga and Ece Gencer, a freshman. These Boilers must win their first match, at 9 a.m. Thursday, to move on to the second at 1 p.m. A win in both would qualify them for the main draw.

The main draw of 64 players features three Boilermakers that have already solidified their spots: senior Carmen Guevara, junior Fatima Gutierrez, who will face Lara Schneider from rival IU, and Tara Milic, a senior.

The trio of main draw qualifiers did not appear in the Hoosier Classic.
