'Love You, Brother!' Tolbert Shares Message Before Game-Winning TD

Dallas Cowboys receiver Jalen Tolbert has had his NFL moment after hauling the game-winning touchdown pass from Dak Prescott, ensuring Mike McCarthy's team left Acrisure Stadium with a 20-17 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers .

With Tolbert being asked to be the No. 2 receiver in the absence of his mentor Brandin Cooks, who is out for a few weeks after an infection on his knee, Jalen had his best game as a professional.

He caught seven passes for 87 yards and THAT game-winning touchdown, as he was a constant outlet for Prescott in the passing game.

Tolbert's transition into the No. 2 receiver role was simple, and he made sure to give Cooks flowers for helping him on his journey.

“I didn't really skip a beat on it," Tolbert said of stepping up for the offense. "I talked to B. Cooks on the way to the airport, text him before the game and said, 'Love you brother,' and he texts back and said, 'Love you bro, kill it.'

"That's my travel buddy, my big brother, a mentor, I'm with him all the time. This is for him man, to be able to come out here and do that, I know he's watching - shout out to (No.) 3.”

We can be sure Cooks was watching, and when Tolbert hauled in the fourth-and-goal pass from Dak to secure the win, we imagine that Cooks would have been smiling ear-to-ear in seeing his young protege take his chance with both hands.

Much has been made of the pair's relationship since the beginning of last offseason, and Tolbert has made steady progress under Cooks' guidance to the point where now Prescott not only trusts him in the passing game but also looks in his direction when the game is on the line.

Success in the NFL isn't linear, and Tolbert has gotten here the hard way; now that he has shown what he can do when given a chance, you can bet your house that he wants more.

And based on his showing in Pittsburgh, he deserves it.
