It will require approval by 24 of 32 owners, and transactions like this rarely make it to the full membership without a high degree of confidence they will pass.</p><p>Brady and Tom Wagner, founder of Knighthood Capital Management, agreed to deal to buy 10 percent of the Raiders from principal owner Mark Davis in May 2023. But the dynamics created by Brady’s role as Fox Sports’ lead game analyst has led to unusual scrutiny and opposition from other owners. In August, Brady was made subject to unique restrictions on his work as a broadcaster to satisfy other owners’ concerns about conflicts of interest; for instance he can’t have advance game meetings with other teams.</p><p>The terms of this deal originally called for Brady and Wagner to pay $175 million for the 10 percent stake (Brady’s personal investment is unclear). Colts owner Jim Irsay said that figure was too low, but the offer has been increased since then to an undisclosed figure, sources said. The Raiders were valued in August by Forbes at $6.7 billion, but that figure includes debt estimated at more than $1.2 billion.</p><p>Since the Brady deal was first agreed to by Davis, the NFL’s owners have voted to prohibit employees outside the family of control owners from holding stakes in the team. Effectively, that means that buying part of the Raiders would foreclose on any chance of Brady resurrecting his playing career. </p></div></body>
