Florida is such a special place. I mean, where else can you see some of the United States' most gorgeous beaches, go to Disney World, the Daytona 500, and be attacked by an alligator in the Publix parking lot while you try to avoid the tweaker on bath salts? Nowhere... Yep, Florida is famous for a lot of things, but alligator rank pretty high on that list. Florida is actually packed with all kinds of wildlife from the oceans and swamps, to the inlands lake and forests. In addition to alligators, you can find dolphins, manatees, snakes, turtles, panthers, black bears and countless bird species like flamingos. Of course, the alligators are really the bread and butter of the state, with estimates of over a million present in the Sunshine State. After all, they named a major football team after it... So naturally, when portions of the state flood, and water is everywhere, that means.... gators are everywhere. Like... in your house. Of course, it's no secret that Hurricane Helene absolutely ravaged parts of Florida, as well as parts of Georgia, North Carolina and more, but for one family, they were greeted to quite the surprise when they returned to their flooded home. https://twitter.com/DramaAlert/status/1844100949591326871 Can you imagine? Water is just rushing out, everything is ruined, a living nightmare... and you got to deal with alligators in the house on top of it? Hard pass for me, man. This is why I live in the Midwest. Sure, you have to deal with frigid temperatures and snow, but no hurricanes, no gators, no mountain lions... the list of things that will ruin your life are fairly minimal. And hey, to make matters even worse, ol' Hurricane Milton is bearing down on the Gulf Coast, expected to make landfall near Tampa Bay this evening with its 100+ mph winds, its rising waters and gaggle of tornadoes that it caused. Luckily, it's been downgraded to a Category 3, but that's really only a minor consolation for the fine people of Florida, still reeling from the last natural disaster. Pray for Florida, man...
