‘There Is No Intelligent Life’: Democrat Roasts Marjorie Taylor Greene’s ‘Weather Machine’

Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-FL) blasted Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) just as Hurricane Milton made landfall on the western coast of his state.

Last week in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, which devastated much of the southeastern U.S., Greene took to X to fire off a wild message.

“Yes they can control the weather,” she wrote . “It’s ridiculous for anyone to lie and say it can’t be done.”

The tweet was very much on brand, as Greene once suggested that wildfires in California had been started by the wealthy Rothschild family. In the years since, “Jewish space lasers” has become shorthand for those comments.

Moskowitz appeared on The ReidOut , where guest host Jason Johnson asked him about the impact of misinformation that has been spread about hurricanes. In recent days, Republicans – including former President Donald Trump – have falsely claimed that the Federal Emergency Management Agency took money designated for storm recovery and gave it to immigrants instead. Some have also falsely claimed hurricane victims will receive just $750 in aid. These are just two of a slew of falsehoods conservatives have been spreading.

“What is the impact on the ground of this kind of misinformation?” Johnson asked Moskowitz.

The lawmaker replied that while there’s “always been” misinformation in disaster politics, “what we’re seeing being put out now is very dangerous.”

“I mean, at some point in time we’ll see people tell residents not to evacuate because the hurricane’s not really hitting you,” he said. “Obviously, you have people seeing FEMA doesn’t have money because we sent money to Lebanon. Of course, FEMA doesn’t send money to Lebanon. That’s a completely different department.”

He later turned his attention to Greene.

“And then obviously, we have my favorite, Marjorie Taylor Greene, who runs the MENSA caucus, talking about the fact that we have a weather machine,” Moskowitz cracked. “You know, if there are aliens watching and they’re looking at all of this, they can definitely confirm there is no intelligent life Congress with Marjorie Taylor Greene talking about a weather machine being used for politics. So, it’s very dangerous.”
