The Oklahoma Sooners have dealt with a ton of injuries this season , injuries that have derailed their offense in a lot of different ways. The offense was already going to struggle for different reasons, but the injuries certainly didn't help and actually made everything worse.

But, somehow there has still been some hope that some of these key players that got injured, could very well come back. One of those guys is wide receiver Jalil Farooq, who was injured in Week 1 against the Temple Owls, when then-starting quarterback Jackson Arnold delivered one of the best throws of the season, and Farooq caught it but broke his foot.

Farooq has been out since, and earlier this week, Venables mentioned that the wide receiver would be out of the boot. That then led to some optimism from the fan base that Farooq could suit up this week. That was never going to happen. It was as we call it, a pipe dream.
On Wednesday, that pipe dream was officially put to rest. The Sooners dropped their availability report for their Red River Rivalry matchup this Saturday against the Texas Longhorns.

On that availability report, Farooq is listed as out for the game, along with wide receiver Nic Anderson, wide receiver Jayden Gibson, wide receiver Andrel Anthony, defensive back Gentry Williams, defensive back Kendal Dolby , and offensive lineman Geirean Hatchett.

Wide receiver Deion Burks and tight end Kade McIntyre are both listed as questionable.

Texas is probably the best team in the country at this point, so the Sooners will need all of the help they can get, especially on offense.

With true freshman Michael Hawkins Jr. starting at quarterback, the Sooners do need some wide receiver help around him. And, they could still get that with Burks . However, Farooq won't be one of them. This game is still very winnable for the Sooners, though, so don't count them or this offense out.
