PHILADELPHIA (KYW Newsradio) — Hundreds turned out late Wednesday morning as officials with Project HOME announced the naming of its headquarters building at 1515 Fairmount Avenue.

“I am so thrilled to see you all here to celebrate the naming of the Christopher J. Seward Residence,” said Donna Bullock, Project HOME president.

Marie and Jim Seward spent the last 22 years volunteering and investing in the effort to end homelessness in Philadelphia. Project Home co-founder Sister Mary Scullion says the couple made a generous gift in honor of their son, Christopher, who died in 1999.

They say Christopher advocated for those suffering homelessness, and now 1515 Fairmount Street bears his name.

This is the first official name of the location in more than 30 years. Scallion says this brings the city one step closer to helping those who need it most.

“Homelessness is such a devastation to those who experience it and we as a city will continue to work as hard as we can to make that happen,” Scallion said.

The building also had renovations made to its lobby and outreach offices.
