Greenlawn, Halesite, Huntington and Northport departments had piles of goods after two days of collecting this week. The Greenlawn department volunteers had boxes and bags of food such as peanut butter, dried fruits, soup, pasta, cereal, as well as soap, wipes, toilet paper and paper towels.

At Halesite, volunteers were packing a truck with supplies on Friday. One said that a member of the department would be flying a plane with more supplies down to North Carolina.

The trucks are headed to North Carolina this weekend.
