The Literacy Coalition of Palm Beach County announces this year’s Read Together book is, “Remarkably Bright Creatures” by Shelby Van Pelt. The New York Times Bestseller has sold over two million copies.

“The book this year is about love, loss, family, second chances and there’s even a little mystery to be solved. It’s a heartwarming, easy read that is surprisingly narrated in parts by an octopus. We hope the community will join us to celebrate the pleasure of reading in this one book, one community campaign” says Kristin Calder, CEO, Literacy Coalition.

The Literacy Coalition’s Read Together campaign encourages adults throughout Palm Beach County to read the same book at the same time. The goal is to engage people in discussing the themes and to help entice those who can read but seldom do to get in the habit of reading again.

“Read Together brings our community together. As we discuss themes and the story of a book, we make connections over shared experiences while also learning different perspectives,” says Calder.

The Literacy Coalition and libraries throughout Palm Beach County are planning book discussions and events through November. The author will attend in-person and speak at the Read Together Finale on Nov. 18 at the Duncan Theatre at Palm Beach State College in Lake Worth Beach.

This community reading initiative is not a fundraiser but helps support the Literacy Coalition’s mission to improve the quality of life in our community by promoting and achieving literacy. For more information and to register for the Finale, visit www. LiteracyPBC.org or call 561-767-3370.
