    Music, Food and Carnival Set for LI Fall Festival

    The annual Long Island Festival opens Friday at Heckscher Park, offering a weekend-long  array of musical acts, food choices, and entertainment for all.

    On Sunday,  the Columbus Day parade will celebrate Italian heritage. Stepping off at 11 a.m., the parade will move from Main Street at Clinton Avenue and head east to Heckscher Park.

    On Friday, the carnival opens at 5 p.m. and continues until 11 p.m. A festival opening ceremony is scheduled for 7 pm. on the Chapin Stage.

    Saturday, the festival runs from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m.; on Sunday, the hours are the same as Saturday’s, but the day’s events include a meatball eating contest at 4 p.m On Monday, the hours are 11 a.m to 5 p.m.

    The festival is hosted by the Huntington Township Chamber of Commerce.
