Agatha All Along Episode 5 has sparked intrigue with its unexpected reveal of Teen’s true identity and its connection to Wanda Maximoff’s story. The episode blends mystery and power, exploring Teen’s hidden past while hinting at deep ties to magic and family.

Here’s a look at how this revelation fits into the MCU and what it could mean for future storylines.

How is Billy Maximoff, aka Wiccan alive on MCU’s Earth-616?

Billy Maximoff’s identity is confirmed at the end of Agatha All Along Episode 5. Teen, played by Joe Locke, shouts Nicholas Scratch’s name to grab Agatha Harkness’ attention.

Agatha, perhaps realizing Teen’s true identity, mocks him, saying he’s “just like [his] mother.” In response, Teen uses his magic for the first time. This causes Agatha to fall into a mud trap, with Lilia and Jen joining her. This dramatic display of power, along with a silver/blue crown forming on Teen’s head towards the end, confirms his identity as Billy Maximoff, aka Wiccan.

The episode supports the fan theory that Billy survived Wanda’s spell in WandaVision and is now becoming Wiccan, a key figure in the Young Avengers. In the MCU, Wanda created Billy and Tommy as magical constructs, but she erased them when she ended the Hex.

However, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness confirmed their existence in other universes. This raises questions about Billy’s return to Earth-616. One theory suggests that, like in the comics, someone has reincarnated Billy as a separate person, leaving him unaware of his true identity.

Mephisto’s involvement could explain why Wanda couldn’t locate Billy on Earth-616. This aligns with Mephisto’s role in the comics, where he absorbs and later reincarnates Billy. A sigil or redaction spell placed on Billy may have hidden him from Wanda’s search. This would force her to embark on a multiversal quest, ultimately leading to the tragic events in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

With the confirmation of Billy’s identity, Episode 5 of Agatha All Along establishes a deeper connection to Mephisto and hints at future confrontations. The series has not yet confirmed the fate of his twin brother, Tommy Maximoff. However, his comic book counterpart, Speed, is expected to return in a similar way.

Wiccan’s reappearance in the show may lead to the formation of the Young Avengers in the MCU. With Vision returning in VisionQuest and Wanda’s fate uncertain, fans can look forward to storylines that reunite the Maximoff family.
