Closure will begin on Monday, Oct. 14th to Fri., Oct. 25th. The entire south parking lot and all access to the outdoor tennis courts, Tiny Woods Bike Skills Course, and the asphalt path on the southeast side of the park will be temporarily closed for construction. The skatepark will remain open, with access from the southeast Pine Street sidewalk only. The closure is required for safety as the parking lot and associated pathways will be getting reconstructed and paved with new asphalt. Parking is available at the north end of sports complex in the Great Northern Park. The pathways on the west side and north side will remain open, and all ball fields will remain open, with access from the north.This project is part of the renovation of the south end of Travers Park which includes the 7,000 SF expansion of the skatepark that opened last July, the new James E. Russell Sports Center and the new inclusive playground and splash pad, both anticipated to be opened later this year. The paving project estimated budget is $120,000 as provided by in part from the donation from Jim and Ginny Russell for the James E. Russell Sports Center and the City of Sandpoint Parks Capital Budget (Fiscal Years 2024).
