Liverpool injury latest and return dates for Alisson, Alexis Mac Allister and Federico Chiesa

International breaks at this time of year are never particularly welcome, but they do at least give players extra time to recover before their club's next match.

Liverpool signed off for the October internationals with a win over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park , but Arne Slot will not have been totally satisfied with how the match played out, given he had to bring both Alexis Mac Allister and Alisson off due to injuries.

The Reds saw out the match without two of their most important players to maintain their spot at the top of the Premier League table, but Slot knows he will need as many of his players as possible to be fit for a tough run of fixtures when the domestic season resumes. Here is the current state of play regarding Liverpool's injured players:

    Alisson

Liverpool's first-choice goalkeeper will reportedly be sidelined for six weeks after sustaining a hamstring injury in the second half at Selhurst Park. Alisson missed games against Bournemouth and West Ham towards the end of September, and Virgil van Dijk suggested after the game at Palace that the 'keeper may have aggravated a problem that he thought he had recovered from.

Scans conducted earlier this week confirmed the extent of the problem and he is expected to miss all of Liverpool's games in between the October and November international breaks.

Possible return date for Liverpool: 24 November (Southampton, away)

    Alexis Mac Allister

The last international break featured plenty of Alexis Mac Allister injury talk and this one is no different. Mac Allister was withdrawn at half-time at Selhurst Park with a problem in his groin area, but still linked up with the Argentina squad ahead of World Cup qualifiers against Venezuela and Bolivia.

Argentina manager Lionel Scaloni, however, confirmed Mac Allister has been training away from the main group. "For now he has not been able to train with us and we will make the decision if he is part of the squad or the bench, but today it is difficult for him. I think we have to take care of him. He is a boy who comes with a lot of games and today the situation is like this.”

Possible return date for Liverpool: 20 October (Chelsea, home)

    Harvey Elliott

Harvey Elliott sustained a fractured foot during the September international break and, at the time, the prognosis was that he would be out for around six weeks. There have been no updates from Arne Slot to say when he expects Elliott to be able to return to competitive action, but the youngster shared a picture of himself doing gym work on Instagram this week , suggesting he may not be far away from returning to the field.

Possible return date: End of October

    Federico Chiesa

Federico Chiesa was another absentee for Liverpool's trip to Palace. Slot didn't delve too much into the reason behind the absence of Chiesa, who also missed the Champions League win over Bologna, but the Italian was at least in a good enough shape to try and train on the eve of the game against Palace, which suggests the problem isn't a serious one.

Possible return date for Liverpool: 20 October (Chelsea, home)

    Caoimhin Kelleher

Ireland international Caoimhin Kelleher is set for a run in the team in the absence of Alisson, but was not at Selhurst Park to replace him last weekend due to illness. Vitezslav Jaros came on for his debut in that situation, but Kelleher, who has been named in the Ireland squad for the games against Finland and Greece, is expected to start against Chelsea when Liverpool's season resumes.
