I don't see EV'S as a viable option for emergency vehicles right now. They are moving all the time, often times speeding, and in inclimate weather, all that effect battery life.

The Chief should have known the limitations of using Teslas as patrol vehicles. Most police stations have a secure parking lot or garage for their vehicles. You would have chargers there and charge the vehicles on a rotating basis. You are not going to have an officer sitting at a public charging station. Might as well put a target on his back. All of these issues should have been considered before buying these Teslas. There is no substitute for a large Ford sedan or Ford Explorer. That is the vehicle of choice now. My daughter has a Tesla 3. I used to work in LE. I cannot imagine getting into a Tesla 3 with my duty belt, numerous times a day, and I am far from heavy. By the way, why does the Chief have Lt. bars in his lapels? Was he demoted?
