'Interesting' Steelers Trade Pitch Adds Davante Adams for Controversial Star

The Raiders remain in limbo on wide receiver Davante Adams, who has yet to be traded despite his desire to be elsewhere and the organization's apparent willingness to accommodate him.

According to a report from The Athletic , four teams remain possibilities for an Adams deal: the Jets, Saints, Bills and Steelers.

That last team is especially interesting, because the Steelers have shown themselves to have a good enough team to earn a playoff spot in the AFC, but are badly in need of increased offensive weapons. In that vein, ESPN insider Dan Graziano revealed that there has been chatter around the NFL about a potential blockbuster:

Swapping Adams to Pittsburgh for George Pickens, the controversial Steelers star who was held to a "snap count" by coach Mike Tomlin in Sunday night's loss to Dallas. Pickens played a career-low 34 snaps in that game, and his effort was questioned.

"Their top receiver is George Pickens , whose reduced snap count in Sunday night's loss is an indication he doesn't have the full trust of the coaching staff, and they're ultra-thin behind him," Graziano wrote.

"Adams would immediately slot in as their No. 1 wide receiver, and they'll do what they can to find out if they can get him. A couple of people -- not people connected with the Steelers, just outside observers -- suggested the idea of a Pickens-for-Adams trade, and you have to admit it's interesting."

Interesting, indeed. Pickens is in his third season, and despite multiple incidents that have caused his character to come in question, he is in his third season and on his rookie contract. Pickens also had 1,140 yards receiving in 2023.

The Raiders would likely require some form of draft compensation in addition to Pickens, if the Steelers were interested in that type of trade.

The NFL trade deadline is fast approaching, on Nov. 5.
