The brand will serve as the entitlement partner of Capital One Arena’s new entrance and main concourse quadrant at 7th St. and G St. Venture Global will also receive both in-arena signage during all events and commercial spots on Monumental Sports Network during all games played by Monumental teams. As presenting sponsor of the Ovechkin goal chase, Venture Global branding will be featured on an in-bowl Ovechkin goal tracker at Capitals home games. The company will also receive exclusive branding of in-arena signage following goals scored by Ovechkin at Capital One Arena. In addition, Ovechkin will participate in a commercial spot for Venture Global, and the brand will have the right to use “From a storytelling standpoint, Alex's chase is going to be something that we can capture inside the venue where we host 3.5 million people-plus a year, and we also have the opportunity to tell that story as he scores goals on Monumental Sports Network,” said Monumental President of Business Operations and CCO Jim Van Stone. “So, it's really a great touch point for them to be part of history in the making.” Terms of Venture Global's sponsorship deal with Monumental were not disclosed, nor were the terms of the company’ separate endorsement deal with Ovechkin. The three-time MVP and nine-time goal-scoring champion is represented in off-ice ventures by CAA Hockey Chief Business Officer David Abrutyn. Monumental and its most prolific star athlete have collaborated on brand marketing efforts on several prior occasions, including with brands such as Verizon, Papa John’s and Capital One. Doing so for Ovechkin’s record chase was a natural fit. “As we were having some really good conversations with Venture Global, it was a perfect opportunity to introduce them to [Abrutyn], representing Alex, and see if there was additional opportunity from that standpoint,” Van Stone said.
