Lions' Jared Goff has a chance to do something no other quarterback has done in NFL history this Sunday against the Cowboys

Week 4 was a lot of fun for Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff. He went 18 for 18 against the Seattle Seahawks and set a couple NFL records. Not a bad night at all. Sunday's matchup against the Dallas Cowboys presents another opportunity for Goff to etch his name in the history books.

Goff is seven consecutive completions away from setting the NFL record for most consecutive completed passes. Right now he's in second place for the record with 19. The standing record is 25 and it's held by four guys. Nick Foles, Marcus Mariotta, Phillip Rivers and Ryan Tannehill have all hit that 25 mark. Goff's 19 is as close as anyone has come since 2018.

The big question is can he do it? It's hard to say no at this point when you consider that in back to back games, Goff has started the first half at a red hot pace. He went 12-12 in the first half against the Cardinals and then went 12-12 again in the first half against the Seahawks.

All he has to do is complete seven passes in a row and the record is his. The Cowboys are better against the pass than they are the run, but they're still 18th in passing defense DVOA. He has a shot if the Lions can establish the run to set up the pass. We'll see what happens on Sunday.
