I support this but...if the town is going to invest this much money, the section of walkway nearest the parking lots should be re-opened to the public, as it was when I moved here in the early 70's. Shortly after the last repairs were made, the walkway was posted. I can understand the foot traffic over the causeway being restricted, there's nothing out there but private homes, and the races at the tide gates are definitely a hazard. Back then, the kids could safely go snapper fishing and crabbing from the boardwalk over the eddy near the garage launch ramp, rather than the slippery rock jetty and the treacherous outlet canal on the beach side. If this is to continue being treated as private property then the property owners should pay a reasonable assessment, if that is not already the case.
