Orioles could target Phillies reliever to bolster bullpen for 2025

The Baltimore Orioles season is over. Last week, they were eliminated by the Kansas City Royals in the American League Wild Card Series.

Now, the focus is on 2025. The Orioles may need some help in the back end of their bullpen.

With the Philadelphia Phillies being eliminated, Baltimore could target right-hander Carlos Estevez. Zach Pressnell of FanSided predicted that the All-Star closer will end up with the highest bidder this winter.

Perhaps the Orioles could be that team.

"He's likely played himself into a relatively large contract this offseason," Pressnell wrote. "He owes no loyalty to the Phillies, and I would expect to see him land with whichever team is going to give him the most money."

The Orioles top focus will likely be trying to re-sign Corbin Burnes. But a top-level starter is not their only need.

Estevez could be a perfect fit at the back end of their bullpen, and if they cannot re-sign Burnes, turning their focus to the bullpen might be a wise decision.

During the regular season, Estevez appeared in 54 games with the Phillies and Los Angeles Angels, going 4-5 with a 2.45 ERA across 55 innings.

The 31-year-old has proven his ability to pitch in high-leverage spots, and having him in their bullpen would be a major plus for the Orioles.

This postseason, he made three appearances and posted a 3.38 ERA over 2 2/3 innings of work with the Phillies. His market will certainly be competitive.

We'll see if Baltimore tries to pluck him away from the Phils.
