Ohio State receives a gift of good news that may push them over the top to beat Oregon

The Ohio State Buckeyes have no real injury worries heading into their huge Big Ten matchup with Oregon after receiving promising news on a key offensive playmaker.

Wide receiver Carnell Tate is set to be back on Saturday against Oregon . Wednesday night, head coach Ryan Day revealed he had a good day of practice and would be good to go.

It is big news for the Buckeyes, who will have their full starting offense out there on the road against the Ducks. The injury that held Tate out against Iowa has not been specified.

“He’s an ultra competitor, so he wants to be out there every single day, whether it’s practice or whatever it is,” sophomore wide receiver Brandon Inniss said Wednesday . “So it was hard for him not to play. But for him to get back this week was very crucial.”

Tate is not talked about as much because he plays the same position on the field as star freshmen Jeremiah Smith and Emeka Egbuka. Still, he is a very important piece to the Buckeyes and a future NFL player himself.

So far this season, Tate has 219 receiving yards, 14 catches, and a touchdown scored. When he is not catching the ball, he is a key piece for the Buckeyes as a blocker. A long 6-foot-3 target with smooth route-running ability to get open. He has caught all but three passes thrown his way.

It is a promising update for the Buckeyes, who are looking for a signature win in Eugene, Oregon.
