Joel Klatt Makes His Prediction for Ohio State-Oregon Showdown on Saturday

One of the biggest matchups of the college football weekend—and the entire season—takes place on Saturday when the No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes travel to Autzen Stadium in Eugene, Oregon, to battle the No. 3 Oregon Ducks at 7:30 PM ET on NBC .

Both teams remain unbeaten and have specific strengths they excel at. Oregon boasts an impressive record, having won 34 of their last 35 games at home, but they have yet to face an opponent of Ohio State's caliber, given the wealth of talent on both sides of the ball.

On Thursday, former quarterback and current college football analyst Joel Klatt shared his weekly picks on his podcast, " The Joel Klatt Show ." As expected, he took the time to dissect the Buckeyes-Ducks matchup and reached a conclusion for his prediction.

"It is plausible, and I would say even likely, that Ohio State will perform well on the ground. If they do that, they win the game. I think Ohio State goes on the road and gets the win. Ohio State is favored by 3.5... I actually think they cover that spread." Klatt said.

Klatt focused on the question marks surrounding both teams. For Oregon, he highlighted struggles with stopping the run and recent red zone difficulties, noting that Dillon Gabriel has thrown three interceptions in the red zone over the last two games—concerns that could be significant against Ohio State.

On the other hand, the question for the Buckeyes lies with quarterback Will Howard . Can he compete and win at this level? Is he a National Championship-caliber quarterback? This week marks the beginning of that narrative and will put him to the test.

As the anticipation builds, excitement grows for what promises to be one of the best matchups of the entire season, all set to unfold in Week 7 amid a host of thrilling games across the college football landscape.

As a born and bred Ohioan, I predict with confidence that Ohio State will win. If we lose, I will have no choice but to get high school drunk.
