It’s almost time to get some good books without dipping too deep into the wallet as the Friends of the Beaufort Library will hold its Annual Fall Book Sale on November 1st through the 3rd, at Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park in downtown Beaufort.

At the sale, over 40,000 gently used books, music, movies and audio books will be available for sale at bargain prices with hardbacks a mere $2 and most paperbacks selling at 50 cents each.

All sorts of books will be at the sale from cooking and gardening to the occult and metaphysical. Fiction and mystery are the largest and most popular categories and rare and collectible books include a large selection of local Lowcountry authors and topics.

On Friday, November 1st, a private sale for all members of the Friends will be held early in the day. If you’re interested in becoming a member, you can sign up any time before or during the pre-sale to gain access to the pre-sale for only $25 per household, and only $15 if you are a military household.

The Friends of the Beaufort Library annual book sale will open to the general public on Friday, November 1st from 11am to 8pm, and will reopen on Saturday from 9am to 6pm. The book sale will reopen from 10am to 3pm on Sunday, during which time ALL books and audio-visual items will be half-price, including the big selection of rare and collectible books. (times are subject to change)

    Get there early

This is an extraordinarily popular event proving that books are not obsolete. Book lovers of all stripes show up to scavenge for their favorites, some grabbing up 10 books at a time, so you need to get there early for the best possible selection.

The first Friends of the Beaufort Library book sale in 1987 produced $900 in book sales. Now, this fundraiser generates half the Friends of the Beaufort Library’s total income which goes right back to the Library itself.
