We’re well into post-season baseball (go Dodgers!) and last week’s heatwave will hopefully soon give way to some fall foliage. The days are getting shorter, Yom Kippur is on Saturday and Indigenous Peoples Day is on Monday. All the signs are there – like it or not, we’re as deep into fall as you can get.

As a summer person who’s always wanting longer days and more sun, fun events to look forward to are what get me through as we barrel toward winter. This week, Center Theatre Group partners with Deaf Theater West for a very special production of Green Day’s American Idiot at the Taper, NPR’s favorite son Ari Shapiro joins Alan Cumming on stage at the Ford, Motley Crue rocks the Whisky, and two beer festivals are on tap. Plus, the monthly star party is on at the Griffith Observatory and CicLAvia heads downtown.

Visit LAist.com to get your best bets for peeping leaves all around the region, a list of five coffee hotspots to check out in Boyle Heights, and meet the area’s luckiest Dodgers fan .
