Despite losing nine-time All-Star Paul George this past offseason, the Los Angeles Clippers haven't wavered in their desire to win the NBA crown. However, doing so may be a fool's errand, especially considering the team's roster. According to Bleacher Report's Zach Buckley, the Clippers have one of the league's "weirdest" roster makeups heading to the 2024-2025 season.

PG's departure was a huge loss

With PG, Kawhi Leonard, and James Harden on the squad, the Clippers' direction was clear: win it all every season. Although they fell way short of their lofty goals in the last five seasons, the team's roster reflected that mindset. But with PG gone, the Clippers are now in an identity crisis.

"For a win-right-now team—which the Clippers must think they are with what they're paying Leonard and James Harden—George's subtraction will make it much harder (if not impossible) to win anything of note. So, what is this roster supposed to do, then?" Buckley surmised .

While the Clippers tried to mitigate George's departure by bolstering the team's depth with several solid role players, the onus will undoubtedly be on Kawhi and "The Beard" to carry the team. But with Leonard's injury history and Harden's diminishing explosiveness and athleticism, it may be too much to ask the two to bring home a championship.

There are far too many questions that need answers

With Kawhi coming off a knee procedure this offseason, his availability will be questioned all season long. On the other hand, Harden is coming off a season where he averaged only 16.6 points, the lowest mark of his career since his third season in the league; it's clear that the former Arizona State star's best days are behind him.

"Leonard, who last topped 70 games in 2016-17, and Harden, who just averaged his third-fewest points on his third-worst field-goal percentage, feels about as rickety of a two-player foundation as you'll find among the league's playoff hopefuls. The supporting cast is fairly deep, but what is there to support?" Buckley penned.

Ultimately, this Clippers team has far too many questions to be considered one of the top contenders in a loaded Western Conference.
