Gang Member Sentenced 19.5 Years for Violent Crimes

Jervon Morris, aka "Sticky," faces nearly 20 years in prison for his role in racketeering, drug trafficking, and violent crimes tied to the Marion Gardens gang.

NEW JERSEY - Jervon Morris, 35, of Jersey City, was sentenced to 234 months in federal prison for racketeering, violent crimes in aid of racketeering, drug trafficking, and firearms offenses, according to U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger. Morris, a member of the Marion Gardens street gang, previously pled guilty to the charges before U.S. District Judge Claire C. Cecchi.

Morris and his co-defendants are part of a gang operating in and around the Marion Gardens Housing Complex, known for distributing cocaine and heroin and engaging in acts of violence. These violent acts, including assaults, shootings, and murders, were often aimed at rival gang members. Morris was involved in the July 28, 2011 murder of a victim at Gifford Avenue and Bergen Avenue in Jersey City, alongside fellow gang member Kevin Williams, aka “KK,” and others.

In addition to his prison term, Morris was sentenced to three years of supervised release. Williams, who participated in a separate 2018 assault in Jersey City, was sentenced on October 3, 2024, to 198 months in prison.

The case also involved other gang members tied to violent incidents, including a 2018 shooting where Terick Rogers, aka “Moot,” and two others shot five people during a gang-related celebration, resulting in Rogers' 192-month sentence. Another co-defendant, Jakeem Gibson-Madison, aka “Beanz,” was sentenced to 180 months for his role in a 2019 shooting targeting a rival gang member.

U.S. Attorney Sellinger credited the FBI, Hudson County Prosecutor's Office, and Jersey City Police Department for their joint efforts in investigating the gang’s criminal activities. The case was part of the Jersey City Violent Crime Initiative (VCI), a coordinated law enforcement effort to combat gang violence in the region.

This sentencing represents a significant step in curbing the violence associated with street gangs in Jersey City.
