In four performances this October, and just in time for Halloween, Studebaker Theater will showcase Manual Cinema’s acclaimed Frankenstein , back by popular demand. The classic gothic tale will run from Friday, October 25 through Sunday, October 27 at Chicago’s historic Fine Arts Building .

In this unique take on the story, this Chicago-based performance will weave together Frankenstein’s story with the background of the original novel’s author, Mary Shelley. This “unexpected tale about the beauty and horror of creation”—as described by the press release—will include shadow puppetry, fascinating cinematic techniques, and haunting live sounds and effects to bring this disturbed character to life.

“Our Frankenstein adaptation has toured all over the world, from the UK to South America and all over the US—but it’s never looked or sounded better than on the Studebaker stage,” says Kyle Vegter, co-artistic director of Manuel Cinema. “We are thrilled to be partnering with the Fine Arts Building and Studebaker Theater to bring Frankenstein back to life for its hometown audience this month!”

This performance marks the first time the Fine Arts Building and Studebaker Theater are working with another organization to co-produce a theater work.

Tickets start at $45 and students can get a discounted $20 ticket with proof of I.D.

Performances will be held at the following times:

    • Friday, October 25 at 7:30 p.m.

    • Saturday, October 26 at 2 p.m. & 7:30 p.m.

    • Sunday, October 27 at 2 p.m.
