In light of Packers tight end Luke Musgrave's ankle injury, Green Bay is signing tight end John FitzPatrick off of the Atlanta Falcons' practice squad and on to its active roster - per a report from ESPN insider Adam Schefter.

Musgrave was active during the Packers 24-19 win over the Los Angeles Rams last week, but didn't play a single snap. He has only caught five catches on seven targets for 22 yards on the season. A corresponding roster move has yet to be made to make room for FitzPatrick on the 53-man roster.

FitzPatrick was a sixth-round pick by the Falcons in the 2022 NFL Draft and spent his entire rookie season on injured reserve. In 2023 he caught just one pass for 12 yards in nine games played, mostly contributing on special teams. He has spent the 2024 season on Atlanta's practice squad.

At 6-foot-7 and 250 pounds, FitzPatrick is a big, physical player whose biggest contribution will be as a run blocker. He did flash some pass catching ability during the preseason, however, snagging nine receptions for 68 yards. He should be a pretty natural replacement for Musgrave.

Green Bay now has three active tight ends on its roster in Tucker Kraft, Ben Sims and FitzPatrick. Messiah Swinson is another option on it has on the practice squad. Kraft is obviously the top guy, ranking seventh among tight ends in receiving yards with 218 and is tied for first in touchdown catches with three.
