Can’t you just see the movie plot now – some bad voodoo goes down in New Orleans turning people into zombies. The key to surviving in Louisiana during a zombie apocalypse would be choosing places with natural barriers, abundant resources, and defensible positions. <a href="https://www.compassminerals.com/who-we-are/locations/cote-blanche-louisiana/" rel="nofollow"> The Salt Mines </a> – In Vermilion Parish, the Jefferson Island salt mine is a quick, fast destination to get to. The only risk is that they’re known to collapse and create sinkholes. Just make sure you have a boat and you are golden. Kentwood has water, and lots of it. The underground springs in Kentwood will provide an incredible resource during a zombie apocalypse, and that’s the good, and bad news. In a zombie apocalypse, whoever controls water supplies will control the world. The good news is you’ll have life sustaining water. The bad news is, everyone left will want it, and will want to take it from you. <a href="https://doc.louisiana.gov/location/louisiana-state-penitentiary/" rel="nofollow"> Louisiana State Penitentiary (Angola) </a> – This maximum-security prison, surrounded by water on three sides, is an isolated and fortified structure. It has a self-sustaining system with farms and workshops, which could be converted to help survivors produce food and supplies. <a href="https://www.atchafalaya.org/atchafalaya-basin" rel="nofollow"> Atchafalaya Basin </a> – The largest swamp in the U.S., the Atchafalaya Basin is a natural fortress. Its dense swamps, waterways, and difficult terrain would make it nearly impossible for zombies to navigate, providing a natural barrier. Plus, it offers plenty of natural resources for survival. <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fort_Johnson#:~:text=Fort%20Johnson%2C%20formerly%20Fort%20Polk,of%20DeRidder%20in%20Beauregard%20Parish." rel="nofollow"> Fort Johnson </a> – Formerly Fort Polk in Leesville, as a major U.S. Army base, Fort Polk is equipped with military personnel, weapons, and infrastructure for defense. It’s a secure location with the resources to mount a serious defense against zombies, and its large area would allow space for survivors. AVOID THE STATE OF TEXAS AT ALL COSTS – No explanation needed here. The nearby cities of Houston and Dallas are so populated that the state will be crawling with biters.
