Texas-Oklahoma injury updates for Red River Rivalry: Status revealed for Quinn Ewers, Sooners WRs

The Red River Rivalry is among the best rivalry matchups in the entirety of college football. Oklahoma and Texas meet halfway between the two campuses, landing them in Dallas, TX. By the time the two programs meet up, fans that travel to the contest are split in the middle of the field. There’s a distinct line between burnt orange and crimson.

The Cotton Bowl provides one of the most electric atmospheres in the nation. After any play – boos and moans are met with cheers and joy. Stars are made in this very game.

Again, it’s a very hostile environment in Dallas. It takes a true veteran to thrive in the contest, and having a veteran quarterback can give a team a huge boost.

Fortunately for Texas, the Longhorns will see the return of Quinn Ewers . He’s missed some time, which has seen Arch Manning take over under center. Both quarterbacks have talent and pop, but Ewers provides the calming, veteran presence the Longhorns will need against the Sooners.

What Ewers’ return means for Arch Manning

The Manning family understands this – a quarterback or player won’t lose their job to an injury. This is perfectly fine for Manning. He committed to Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns for one reason.

Now, Manning takes a backseat again to Ewers, though he can see up close how a quarterback maintains this environment. Manning will provide relief to Ewers if need be, should their be an injury or anything restricting the starting quarterback from playing.

Oklahoma’s Deion Burks most likely to miss game

Not only is Oklahoma starting a true freshman quarter – a feat that hasn’t happened in this matchup before. Michael Hawkins Jr., a Dallas native, is the starting signal-caller for the Sooners. He will be without some help, too.

Oklahoma star wide receiver Deion Burks is unlikely to play in the contest. The Sooners are injury-riddled and their wide receiver depth is depleted at the moment.

All signs point toward No. 1 Texas taking down the No. 18 Sooners in Dallas on Saturday . However, in this contest which regularly provides chaos, nothing is guaranteed.
