ERLANGER, Ky. (TCN) -- A teen is in custody after allegedly fatally beating his grandmother during a family dispute this week.

On Tuesday, Oct. 8, officers with the Erlanger and Independence Police departments responded to a home to a report of an active assault. Police found the suspect, 18-year-old Wyatt Testerman, outside the residence, and immediately took him into custody without incident.

According to police, authorities located the victim, 74-year-old Cheri Oliver, inside the house with head trauma. She was transported to a hospital and later pronounced deceased. Further investigation revealed a dispute between family members led to the incident.

Per a uniform citation reviewed by WDKY-TV, Wyatt Testerman "became violent for no apparent reason" and hit Oliver numerous times with his fist, as well as with a "metal drinking tumbler."

Testerman faces a charge of murder and remains held in the Kenton County Jail on $500,000 bond.

According to WXIX-TV, a judge said Testerman could face 20 years or more and up to life in prison if convicted. During his arraignment, Testerman allegedly showed no emotion. He is scheduled to appear in court again on Oct. 15.
