Fresh off a performance at Austin City Limits (and another one coming up this weekend), the indie rockers announced they’ve plotted their 2025 ‘Paradise State Of Mind Tour’ that will send them to venues all over North America from January through March.
Toward the end of the 23-concert run, they’ll drop into Brooklyn’s newly opened Paramount Theatre on Monday, Feb. 24 with special guest Good Neighbours.
At all shows, FTP fans can expect to hear the hits — think “Pumped Up Kicks,” “Sit Next To Me” and “Houdini” — as well as cuts from the group’s recently-released fourth studio album “Paradise State Of Mind.”
“I think the trickiest part about this record was trying to be authentic about what had been going on with me,” says lead singer Mark Foster, “…to make something that rang true to what was on my mind, but that had this much groove and that would be fun to dance to. You know, to me, they’re like Trojan Horses, the message is hiding in the melody.”
If you want to get down to Foster’s authentic bops live, tickets are available as soon as today.
On Aug. 16, Foster The People dropped their fourth studio album “Paradise State Of Mind.”
Comprised of a lean 11 tracks, the record expertly melds disco, jazz, gospel and pop to create a sound that is uniquely Foster The People-ian.
While there isn’t a dud in the bunch, the record does have definite highlights. Personally, we’re partial to the invigorating “Paradise State Of Mind” (we couldn’t stop nodding along to this one), bouncy, cheeky “See You In The Afterlife” and retro-futurist “Lost In Space.”
Best of all though might be the laid-back “The Holy Shangri-La.” It’s a blissed out tune that will likely be a fixture in coffee shops for the next decade. We highly recommend checking it out now so you don’t have to Shazam the song in five months.
Make sure to give “Keep It Up,” “Daisies” and “Bloom” a spin as well. Fans of ’00s and ’10s rockers like Phantogram, early MGMT and Miike Snow will be pleasantly surprised- you might have just found your new favorite group.
