Jenna Bush Hager Shades Husband For “Miraculous” Ability To Stay Sleeping When Their Kids Wake Them Up — And Threatens To Go On “Strike”

Jenna Bush Hager and Hoda Kotb recently got a sneak peek at Seth Meyers ‘ new comedy special Dad Man Walking , and it looks like the Today hosts were not buying one of his many complaints about his kids.

They shared a clip from the special during Thursday’s (Oct. 10) broadcast that showed Meyers cracking jokes about the little everyday annoyances that come with having kids.

“It’s gotten to the point that when I hear the doorknob rattle I think maybe it’s just an intruder who will politely steal my valuables and then I won’t have to scratch his back for the next hour,” Meyers jokes in the special.

With a laugh, Bush Hager promptly called out the late night host and told him to “be honest” about who really wakes up at night when the kids wake them up.

“But let’s be honest Seth, let’s be honest,” she said. “Because most dads that I know miraculously sleep through when the kids come in.”

Bush Hager noted that her husband, Henry Hager, certainly “knows it.” She said, “Henry will say things like, ‘Was that, which kid came in last night?’ Which kid name in last night? I know because I had to go find Big Face, Hal’s [toy], in the dark!”

The conversation sparked a master plan for Bush Hager.

“I’m wondering if I just go a little bit on strike… What if I tried to fake it?” she asked Kotb.

She then issued a warning to outlets not to ruin the surprise. “What if, for the next five times — nobody tell this to Henry. Daily Mail , I’m talking to you — if I’m just really quiet and pretend I’m asleep?” (We’re sorry, Jenna!)

But the fantasy was short-lived. Kotb warned her co-host, “He’ll be snoring away and you’ll get irritated.”

“No, I know or he’ll say, ‘Jenna, Jenna, do you hear Hal?'” Bush Hager responded.

But Kotb offered her some sound advice for her strike. “You have to keep with the faking as long as no ones really sick or anything. Nine times out of 10, it’s nothing,” she said.

Though they weren’t necessarily buying that Meyers’ dramatic claims, Bush Hager added, “I mean, I love you Seth, but I’d love to get Seth’s wife on the phone because I can guarantee you, eight times out of 10, she was the one [getting up.]”
