Previewing Keefe's First Clash With Maple Leafs

As the New Jersey Devils prepare to face the Toronto Maple Leafs tonight (Oct. 10), all eyes will be on head coach Sheldon Keefe.

This matchup marks Keefe's first game against the Maple Leafs since his firing this off-season. Although it is only the third game of the season for the Devils, they are off to a hot start after sweeping the Buffalo Sabres in the NHL Global Series in Prague.

The Maple Leafs enter this game hoping to bounce back from their season opener loss to the Montreal Canadiens, which ended their 227-game streak without a shutout.

After hiring Craig Berube in the off-season, the team is still learning Berube's hard-to-play-against style of hockey.

On the other side, the Devils are excited to showcase their revamped roster.

Tom Fitzgerald had a very busy off-season after hiring Keefe, providing him with a much-improved roster. He targeted their blue line and not only added depth but gave Keefe three solid pairings of defense, something he lacked during his time with the Maple Leafs.

For Keefe, facing his former team will undoubtedly add an extra layer of intensity. As the puck drops, fans can expect an electrifying atmosphere filled with skilled players on both sides, which could lead to a very high-scoring game.
