Isn't it ironic? When the Tampa Bay Lightning and Carolina Hurricanes thought up their team names, I'm sure they never thought that both of the real life things that inspired them would lead to a game being postponed. Sure enough, the aftermath of both Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton have forced the Lightning and Hurricanes to push their scheduled weekend game to another date. In other words, some lightning and hurricanes postponed a Lightning and Hurricanes game. The NHL's Public Relations account made the official announcement, citing that the ongoing relief efforts in the Tampa Bay area have precedence over the game that was supposed to take place at the home of the 2020 and 2021 Stanley Cup champions: "NHL Game 29 on Saturday, October 12th between the Tampa Bay Lightning and Carolina Hurricanes at Amalie Arena has been postponed amid recovery efforts in the Tampa Bay area from the impact of Hurricane Milton. A makeup date will be announced as soon as it can be confirmed."

Sports can also act as an escape for those affected by strong weather events, and at some point, the Lightning and Hurricanes will certainly find a time to play. Until then, both teams have sent out posts recognizing their Saturday matchup has been pushed to a later date, and that their hearts and thoughts are with those that have been effected by both Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton. https://twitter.com/TBLightning/status/1844445523975209326 The Carolina Hurricanes have even introduced a fundraiser for hurricane relief efforts in order to give back to the Western North Carolina area that was hit so hard by the Hurricane Helene in late September. https://twitter.com/Canes/status/1844468891604386124
