Atrium Health Floyd CNA Jenna Terry recently earned the BEE Award at Atrium Health Floyd. Atrium Health Floyd

Jenna Terry said she knew when she was a little girl that she wanted to do something to help people.

“My older sister was in a wheelchair and all I wanted to do was help my momma take care of her. I love to know I can make a difference in people’s lives,” said Terry. “I always tell my patients ‘I know no one wants to be in the hospital’ and I try to make them feel as comfortable as I can.”

The certified nursing assistant, a graduate of Chattooga High School, earned the BEE Award at Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center on Wednesday for her outstanding compassion. She has been a teammate at the hospital for four years.

BEE stands for Beyond Exceptional Expectations. The award exists as a way for nurses to recognize support teammates who provide outstanding care.

Terry was nominated by nurse Kathy Gregory, who witnessed her in action at the hospital.

“When the elevator doors opened, I saw Jenna Terry comforting a family member… (the) family member was visibly upset and appeared scared. Jenna sat the family member down, held her hands and comforted her while explaining everything that was happening,” Gregory wrote in nominating Terry.
